Danish sportswear brand launches 100% recycled socks

Danish sustainable sportswear Rockay has launched a new collection of eco-friendly 100% recycled socks, using recycled ocean waste, fishing nets and other plastic waste.

The company uses Econyl regenerated nylon, which is manufactured by Italian firm Aquafil from recycling ocean waste and landfill fabrics.

In addition, for the new collection, Rockay is using Polygiene technology, a silver salt fabric treatment that prevents the growth of odour-causing bacteria and fungi in athletic clothing.

This feature will enable the longer use of the socks with fewer washings, which Rockay claims extends the life of the product and saves energy and water.

“Being sustainable or ‘green’ is no longer a trendy thing for the rich. We need everyone to get onboard and start thinking consciously about their shopping choices. Rockay is trying to create this movement on a global scale,” said Daniel Chabert, Rockay CEO, commenting on the new product.
